Shanying Suzhou Paper starts up PM 71 to produce 350,000 tons of corrugating medium annually

Shanying Suzhou Paper has commenced operations of its new PM 71 paper machine at its mill in Suzhou, China, strengthening its annual corrugating medium output by 350,000 tons, according to the technology supplier Voith.

The PM 71 machine is designed for a maximum operating speed of 1,300 meters per minute and features a wire width of 9,300 millimeters. It produces lightweight corrugating medium with basis weights ranging from 50 to 90 grams per square meter. The machine is equipped with an XcelLine technology package that includes a MasterJet Pro headbox, a DuoFormer D II former, and a DuoCentri NipcoFlex shoe press. The system also integrates a SpeedSizer AT film press, a MasterReel reeler, and single-tier dryer sections. Digital systems for control, quality, and predictive maintenance (DCS, QCS, and OnCare.Health) are installed to support operational efficiency.

The paper produced is intended for the corrugating medium market. Together with the recently started PM 72, which is also supplied by Voith, the two machines combine for a total annual production capacity of 800,000 tons of corrugating medium, covering a broader basis weight range of 50 to 120 g/m2.

Following a swift installation process aided by the local manufacturing of many components, the machine has achieved stable production conditions with consistent cross-profiles and high-quality finished paper rolls shortly after its commissioning.
