LOUISIANA (From news reports) -- A three-alarm fire erupted at a Pratt Industries commercial building in The Port of Caddo-Bossier on Saturday afternoon.
The fire, fueled by heavy wind conditions, engulfed several paper bales and spread across an area containing more than 9,500 tons of baled paper products.
More than 100 firefighters from multiple agencies responded to the scene, battling the blaze and providing aid.
Shreveport Fire Department was dispatched just before 2:30 p.m. March 15 to 10000 block of Richard Pratt at Pratt Industries on reports of a fire.
Upon arrival, firefighters discovered several paper bales on fire and, due to heavy wind conditions, a second alarm was initiated -- calling for additional SFD units.
The conditions began to worsen, and a third alarm was initiated requesting aid from multiple agencies such as Bossier City Fire, Caddo Fire District 4, Caddo Fire District 5, Caddo Fire District 6, Caddo Fire District 7, Caddo Sheriffs and a tanker from Desoto Parish.
According to SFD, there were more than 100 firefighters on scene that aided in the containment of this fire. The several-acre lot contained more than 9,500 tons of baled paper products.
This fire resulted in the injury of a firefighter who was transported to a local hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. According to SFD, this fire remains under investigation.
The Port of Caddo-Bossier released this statement on Facebook:
