UFP Industries to permanently close facility in Bonner, Montana

BONNER, Mont. (From news reports) -- UFP Edge will permanently close its manufacturing facility in Bonner on September 27, 2025. The closure is expected to layoff 104 employees according to a letter sent from the company to the Missoula County Commissioners.

While all positions will be eliminated on September 27, some employees will remain after the date to help with "winding down" and "decommissioning" the facility.

According to the letter, "none of the affected employees have bumping rights in connection with the facility's closure pursuant to a collective bargaining agreement or otherwise."

UFP Edge is a part of the Michigan-based company, UFP Industries. In a statement from Abby Mitch, the spokesperson for UFP Industries about the closing, she says:

"This is not an easy decision. We wish this facility had worked out. Montanans' grit and perseverance are among our core values at UFP Industries. We spent 5 years working together to make it work, but big-picture realities beyond our control made consolidation unavoidable. We have committed to our Bonner employees that we will prioritize internal candidates for open positions across the UFP family of companies."
