Sofidel awarded the 2023 Financial Statements Oscar

Porcari (Lucca) (News release) - Sofidel, a leading Italian paper group producing paper for hygienic and domestic use, best known in Italy and Europe for its Regina brand, has won the 2023 Financial Statements Oscar in the "Large Unlisted Companies" category. The award, established in 1954 and sponsored by Federazione Relazioni Pubbliche Italiana (FERPI), Borsa Italiana and Bocconi University, is given to organizations that report their operations in a clear, strict and comprehensive manner, in financial but also social and environmental terms.

The prestigious award was presented to Francesco Pastore, Sofidel Chief Marketing & Sales Officer, by Silvio De Girolamo, vice president of AIIA, during the award ceremony held on Friday, December 15, 2023 at Palazzo Mezzanotte in Piazza Affari, Milan. This is the second time Sofidel has been awarded the Financial Statements Oscar, the first being in 2010.

"Our approach has always been oriented towards transparency of results, the precise analysis of the economic and financial performance of the business, the monitoring and management of risks and a constant reporting of the investments made, aimed at pursuing growth and development that are truly sustainable. The key tool for reading these results is Sofidel's Integrated Report which, each year, chronicles our commitment to creating economic, social and environmental value for all stakeholders. Ferpi's Financial Statements Oscar is a valuable recognition and an additional incentive to continue on the path of accountability and transparency in which we believe," stated Francesco Pastore, Sofidel Chief Marketing & Sales Officer.

Dozens of nominations were submitted for the 2023 Financial Statements Oscar by organizations of different sizes and from different sectors. The panel was entrusted with the task of choosing the winners from the shortlist of finalists reported by the fourteen Judging Panels of more than one hundred experts who had to review all the applications submitted for the ten categories and the four special awards.

The trio of finalists for the 2023 Financial Statements Oscar in the "Large Unlisted Companies" category consisted of BNL BNP Paribas, Open Fiber, and Sofidel, which won the award on the following grounds:

"The Sofidel Group is one of the world leaders in the production of multipurpose household paper. It is a Member of the Global Compact and the international WWF Climate Savers program. The Sofidel Group considers sustainability a strategic growth factor and is committed to reducing the impact on natural capital and maximizing social benefits with the aim of creating shared added value for all its stakeholders. It innovatively diversifies its communication tools, also by including interviews with stakeholders on sustainability topics. Corporate communication is also found to be comprehensive and effective with an excellent graphic appearance, providing detailed information on an above-average pay gender gap. The analysis of ESG risks and related management policies is also highly comprehensive. The presence of the Integrated Report has already applied the concept of Dual Materiality and the Smart Report mode."
