Ohio Tax Credit Authority to consider Howland Kimberly-Clark project next week

WARREN, Ohio (From news reports) -- The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is scheduled to consider a new project application from a national manufacturer of paper products , for a location in Howland Township during its meeting on Monday.

The agenda released by the authority includes Kimberly-Clark as one of the "New Projects" to be discussed. No specific details about the project were included in the agenda.

The Ohio Tax Credit Authority is a five-member independent board consisting of taxation and economic development professionals from throughout the state. The Authority is charged with reviewing and approving applications for tax credit assistance.

The meeting is set for 10 a.m. at the Riffe Center, 77 S. High St., 19th Floor, Room 1960, in Columbus.

The consideration comes after recent approvals of tax abatements by local entities in Trumbull County for a potential Kimberly-Clark facility on property already purchased by the company. The Trumbull County Commissioners approved a 60 percent tax abatement. Warren and Howland Township trustees approved the abatement earlier.

Local officials have expressed optimism about the potential project, with Trumbull County Commissioner Denny Malloy describing the possibility as "the biggest thing to happen to the Mahoning Valley since General Motors." Officials have indicated the project could involve a more than one million square foot facility and bring at least 500 new jobs to the area on land the company has owned since 2024.

Kimberly-Clark is the manufacturer of several iconic household products, including Kleenex tissues, Huggies diapers, Scott toilet paper.
