GP Monticello names new vice president, general manager

Georgia-Pacific in Monticello has named a new vice president and general manager.

Jeff Joyce was recently added to the team. He has worked for the company since 2000, coming in with prior experience having worked as vice president and general manager at the company's branch in Brewton, Alabama, for 12 years.

Before working for Georgia-Pacific, Joyce was employed by Sonoco Products for 14 years, with nine of those years including a joint venture with GP.

"The Monticello opportunity was attractive to Kim and I, as we are ready for a new challenge," Joyce said. "The facility is a high capacity, strategic asset that is vital to the success of GP container board, and I want to be a part of moving this important asset forward."

Joyce has a bachelor's degree in pulp and paper science from North Carolina State University. His family currently lives in Pensacola, Florida, but plans to relocate to Mississippi in the near future.

GP Monticello has a workforce of 430 employees. The mill produces unbleached linerboard paper in various weights and grades that is used to make corrugated containers.
