QUEBEC (From news reports) -- Operations have been suspended at Rayonier Advanced Materials' High Purity Cellulose plant in Temiscaming.
That announcement by Unifor Quebec, on social media Tuesday, with 275 jobs impacted.
In late April, the company announced the plant would shut down this month, for an indefinite amount of time.
President and CEO De Lyle Bloomquist cited persistent market weakness, uncertain availability of affordable wood fiber, high capital and fixed costs as significant challenges for the Temiscaming plant.
At that time, officials said the decision doesn't affect Rayonier's paperboard and high-yield pulp plants.
Those two are part of an ongoing sales process announced last October and will continue to operate at full capacity.
