Worker dies following fall at International Paper mill

NATCHITOCHES, Louisiana -- Natchitoches Parish authorities confirmed that a worker has been killed in a paper mill accident.

KSLA TV reported that the accident happened around 11:30 a.m. Monday at the International Paper Red River Mill in Campti.

Deputies say 42-year-old David Scott Long was on the scaffolding crew when his harness became tangled in a machine and he fell in.

This is the second death at the paper mill this year. In January, 57-year-old Philip Whitehead fell 15 feet, suffering serious injuries. He was airlifted to an area hospital where he later died.

The incident remains under investigation.
