Valmet to cut jobs in EMEA Services and Paper divisions

Valmet, a provider of technologies, automation, and services for the pulp, paper, and energy sectors, has commenced negotiations on February 15, 2024, aimed at restructuring its Services and Paper divisions within the EMEA (Europe, Middle East, Africa) territory. The process will also touch on specific corporate functions, with the objective of increasing operational profitability and adapting to the shifting market landscape. The restructuring is expected to have a significant impact on the company's operations in Finland and Sweden.

The proposed restructuring includes revising organizational structures, optimizing operational processes, and adjusting workforce levels to match current business needs. Preliminary estimates suggest the potential for up to 130 permanent job cuts, with further details on the scope and focus of these layoffs expected to emerge through the negotiation process.

Employing about 6,900 individuals in Finland and 1,800 in Sweden, Valmet's negotiations could significantly impact its workforce in these countries. The company asserts that these measures are critical for maintaining its market standing and ensuring sustainable growth in a challenging industry environment.
