Spotlight on Clampitt Paper Company

One of the few remaining independent paper merchants in the American Southwest, Clampitt Paper Company was founded in 1941 by Max and Mary Nell Clampitt, and it remains a family owned business today. With 10 locations plus 11 retail stores (FasClampitt), Clampitt serves customers across Texas, Oklahoma, New Mexico, Kansas, Missouri and most recently, Colorado.

Through more than 50 distribution partners around the world, Clampitt proudly offers a wide range of product lines, from leading copy paper brands like Hammermill to everday coated and uncoated printing papers from domestic and international mills, as well as wide format printing papers and equipment.

With a strong focus on sustainability, Clampitt Paper has been a longtime supporter of Two Sides.

"We are so fortunate to be a part of the Two Sides community," says Clampitt Paper Chairman and CEO Don Clampitt. "Two Sides continues to dispel the environmental myths about our industry and its products and to educate folks on how incredibly beneficial paper is to not only those of us in the industy, but to our society as a whole."

"Clampitt is proud to be at the forefront of sustainability in our industry," adds Vice President of Marketing Meredith Clampitt. "The paper Industry began putting sustainability into practice long before it was trendy, and will continue to do so long into the future."

Clampitt remains steadfast in its dedication to sustainable development, marketing and selling papers manufactured to the highest environmental standards. This includes products produced with fiber from responsibly managed forests and recycled fiber, alternative fibers and renewable energy resources.

"We are continually educating ourselves in best practices to meet the environmental standards necessary for the future of our planet," explains Clampitt Vice President of Operations Charles Myers.

Clampitt Paper was one of the first merchants in the paper industry to have in-house converting equipment. Sheeters at five Clampitt locations enable the company not only to efficiently create custom paper sizes for customers, but also to reduce paper waste. In fact, Clampitt bails all of its converting waste and sends it to recyclers to be made into to new paper products like toilet tissue and paper towels. The company also recycles, rebuilds and reuses all wooden skids.

Clampitt Paper was the first Texas-based paper company to have its facilities certified to the Forest Stewardship Council® (FSC®) chain of custody standard and among the first to be certified to the Sustainable Forestry Initiative®(SFI®) chain of custody standard. Nearly all the company's facilities have now been certified by independent third-party auditor Bureau Veritas.

The company also is actively involved in the communities where it operates, looking for ways to support its neighbors and improve the surrounding environment. Most recently, Clampitt Houston partnered with several groups to plant over 100 trees at the Buffalo Bayou in Houston to help with erosion and re-rooting to lessen flood risks.

"Whether we're serving our customers, enhancing our environmental performance or supporting our communities, Clampitt Paper is always looking for ways to make sure we leave our world better than we found it!" CEO Don Clampitt says.
