Sebright Products, Inc.

Recently, Paperitalo sat down and talked to Dave Kaminski of Sebright Products.

Paperitalo: Can you give us a brief overview of Sebright Products?

Kaminski: Sebright Products was incorporated back in 1984 as a compactor manufacturer, dealing in Industrial and Commercial applications for solid waste materials. Over the years, Sebright has steadily grown and evolved into a company that serves customers across several different industries, by creating Custom waste and recycling equipment systems and creating Solutions to tough material handling problems that other equipment manufacturers do not wish to take on.

Paperitalo: How is it that Sebright has become a known equipment supplier within the Pulp & Paper Industry sector?

Kaminski: Actually, Sebright had sold and installed dry waste compactors to several paper companies in the 80's, however, it was in 1991 that the tide really turned. We were approached by a paper mill right in our own back yard and asked to develop a "dewatering press" that could squeeze secondary fiber rejects from the paper mill and allow the company to meet the tough EPA rules and regulations surrounding the transport of "wet" waste materials to the landfills. Others had tried this, but not with a high level of effectiveness and durability that the paper mills needed. So, the endeavor began and in 1993, the High Density Extruder ram press for dewatering liquid saturated materials was born. Since then, nearly 500 systems have been sold and installed all over the world.

Paperitalo: How does Sebright "diversify" and keep moving forward as a successful manufacturer?

Kaminski: In 1999 Sebright formed the Bright Technologies division, which handles twin wire belt filter presses for all kinds if industrial waste slurries and sludges. Ever since developing the HD Extruder, Sebright and Bright have continually designed and developed unique equipment systems that have proven to be in high demand across the waste material and recycling spectrum. Focusing on ingenuity and innovation to solve the problems that our customers have, has allowed for continued growth and success here at Sebright. Now customers come directly to us because they have seen our equipment and they know it is exactly what they need.

Paperitalo: "Industry 4.0" is the buzzword these days. What is Sebright Products' experience integrating with control systems?

Kaminski: Well, most of our equipment systems have PLC's as the "brain" behind the brawn if you will. Our controls systems can be designed such that we can integrate with certain other items that a customer may have. For instance, we can place a material handling system at a customer's site, but then integrate and talk to the system of conveyors that may feed to and lead away from our equipment. We do this all the time, both within our own elaborate equipment system and with several other types of auxiliary equipment we come into contact with.

Paperitalo: Why has the Paper Industry been your favorite industry to work in?

Kaminski: Well, it just so happens that I have a degree in Paper Science & Engineering and I have been serving this industry now for over 25 years. Most of my career has been with Sebright. I am pleased to say that I have made a great number of friends and acquaintances over the years and have developed some really productive business relationships. You know...Sebright has some really great equipment and the Paper Industry has this multifaceted need for waste handling solutions and materials management and recycling solutions...I've just been really blessed to have been able to marry these two together and build a sustainable career out of it. I love my job, I love the people, I love the industry...I see myself continuing serve the Paper Industry for many more years to come.

Paperitalo: Thanks, Dave. How do readers reach you?

Kaminski: Just give me a call or send me an email. Dave Kaminski. dkamanski@sebrightproducts.com Mobile Phone (980) 328-1020
