One killed, seven injured in gas pipeline explosion at mill in Narayanganj, Bangladesh

BANGLADESH (From news reports) -- A worker was killed and seven were injured on Saturday in a gas pipeline explosion at Partex Paper Mill at Rupganj in Narayanganj.

The deceased was identified as Ebadat Hossain, 38, a senior wielder at the mill, paper mill's accountant Arif Hossain said.
Ebadat died when the explosion took place at 3:30pm while giving connection to newly installed pipeline, Arif said.
Assistant engineer of the mill Mohsin Ali, 35, mechanics Abu Taher, 35, contractor M Rafiqul Islam, 40, and worker Mithu, 30, were rushed to Dhaka Medical College Hospital with serious injuries.
Mohsin and Taher were admitted to the burn unit of the Dhaka Medical College Hospital, on duty assistant police sub-inspector at the hospital Abdul Khan said.
He also said that contractor Rafiq, who lost the right hand in the explosion, was taken to a private hospital by his relatives while Mithu was taking treatment at the emergency ward at the hospital.

Arif said that three other injured workers took treatment at the mill's clinic.
