One dead, one injured in accident at First Quality Tissue facility

ANDERSON COUNTY, S.C. (From news reports) -- One person is dead and another has been injured after an industrial accident in Anderson County, according to the Anderson County Coroner's Office.

The accident happened around 3:10 p.m. Nov. 4 at a construction site at First Quality Tissue, located at 441 Masters Boulevard.

The coroner has identified the victim as Felix Esqiulin Pomales, 35, of Charlotte, North Carolina.

According to the coroner, Pomales was attempting to bolt two large steel beams together, when one of the beams toppled over and struck him.

He died at the scene, the coroner said.

Pomales worked for Spirit Construction Company out of Green Bay, Wisconsin, the coroner said. The company is constructing a building at the First Quality facility in Anderson, says the coroner.

Another worker was injured and will survive, officials said.
