More on Innovation

In a recent press release, Mondi announced it is launching its re/cycle PaperPlus Bag Advanced, a high-performance paper bag designed to protect humidity-sensitive goods, while significantly reducing plastic content.

The press release states: "PaperPlus Bag Advanced is a paper bag with a high-performance barrier film that reduces plastic usage in the building and construction industry. The paper bag features a thin, high-performance 20 µm film to maintain moisture protection for humidity-sensitive products. Compared to bags with a 50µm film, it uses up to 60% less plastic and has a lower carbon footprint according to Mondi's in-house lifecycle-based PIA (Product Impact Assessment) tool, while offering a comparable level of product protection. As part of Mondi's re/cycle portfolio, PaperPlus Bag Advanced has been tested and confirmed recyclable according to the CEPI test method and 4Evergreen evaluation protocol.

The product was developed as part of Mondi's long collaboration with flooring systems producer UZIN to protect its fast-drying flooring solution. With its advanced water vapour barrier, the PaperPlus Bag Advanced keeps materials safe and dry, even in demanding conditions. Importantly, it runs seamlessly on existing filling and sealing lines, allowing for fast adoption without changes to production equipment."

Sonoco recently announced its partnership with NaturGrops GmbH, a newly established family-owned company dedicated to delivering natural, high-quality, and sustainable dog snacks, by providing an eco-friendly packaging solution.

The press release states "NaturDrops is part of Smart Food for Future GmbH, with a current focus on the DACH region (Germany, Austria, Switzerland). The company is passionate about building strong brands in the functional food space, managing well-known names like LAYENBERGER international and ISOSTAR in Germany, while also developing innovative new concepts through agile teams. Their goal is to build meaningful sustainable brands that reflect the changing needs of their target audience. NaturDrops is your latest brand, offering natural, functional dog snacks that can be used flexibly--depending on the desired effect--as a supplement to food, preventively, or to support existing conditions. These snacks are suitable for daily use, independent of the main feed, and provide dogs with valuable functional nutrients. NaturDrops was launched in May 2025 after twelve months of development.

Sonoco's GreenCan® solution will support NaturDrops' innovative range of functional dog snacks, blending sustainability with a modern design. NaturDrops was founded primarily by Michael and Tanja Weinand and combines expertise from the retail and healthcare sectors with a strong commitment to pet well-being."

We will keep you apprised of further developments.
