John Williams, former president and CEO of Domtar, is transitioning from his role as non-executive chairman of the Domtar Management Board into a new role supporting Domtar owner Jackson Wijaya. The new role, senior advisor to the Owner's Office, will allow Williams more time to focus on his health.
Williams served as president and CEO of Domtar from 2009-2023 and transitioned to non-executive chairman of the Paper Excellence Group in 2023, when legacy companies Paper Excellence, Resolute Forest Products and Domtar began integrating into a leading, privately held forest products manufacturer. A visionary and customer-focused leader, Williams was instrumental in Domtar's transformation from a strictly paper manufacturing enterprise to a significant player in the forest products industry, and most recently played a key role in uniting Paper Excellence, Resolute and Domtar under the Domtar brand.
The change in role is effective immediately.
