LINCOLN COUNTY, OREGON (From news reports) -- A helicopter registered to Weyerhaeuser crashed Wednesday morning, Jan. 14, in a rural area of eastern Lincoln County, leaving its pilot with minor injuries.

The crash happened near mile-marker 3 on Moonshine Park Road around 8:37 a.m., according to the Lincoln County Sheriff's Office, which extends north from Highway 410 in Logsden.

The helicopter had crashed into a cow pasture but did not harm any people, livestock or structures. The cause of the crash is unknown.

Shortly after the crash, the sheriff's office said it had personnel on scene and reported no immediate danger to the community. The sheriff's office also asked residents to stay away while first responders assessed the situation.

Local media looked up the aircraft's tail number in the Federal Aviation Administration's (FAA) registry online. The helicopter is a Bell JetRanger 206L-3 rotorcraft, and it's registered to Weyerhaeuser.

The company said that the pilot is safe and sustained only minor injuries. Weyerhaeuser added that it's working with the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board to determine what led up to the crash.

The pilot, who had non-life-threatening injuries, was transported to the hospital for further treatment and evaluation, confirmed the sheriff's office.
