Fire at Georgia-Pacific facility

BRADFORD, Pennsylvania (From The Bradford Era) -- Firefighters and the Plant Emergency Operations (PEO) team at Georgia-Pacific reportedly contained a fire Saturday in the ductwork at the facility.

On Sunday evening, Bradford Township Volunteer Fire Chief Dan Burkhouse said no one was injured in the fire, which was caused by a mechanical failure.

The facility was in operation when workers smelled smoke and called 911 around 1:30 a.m.

"There wasn't much damage, but the shift that was working couldn't continue operations," Burkhouse said. "They planned to have repairs made and everything cleaned and back together to restart work at the normal time (Sunday) morning."
