Forest products group Stora Enso must pay back wages to 186 employees at its Oulu mill following strikes in the spring of 2024, according to a district court ruling reported by Yle.
The court ruled that the workers were entitled to their salaries during the week production was halted.
The company had suspended wage payments in connection with widespread strikes across the transport and municipal sectors. According to the court, the employees in question did not participate in the strike, nor had their labor union influenced the conflict. Consequently, the company was obligated to pay their wages. The compensation amounts range from a few hundred to approximately two thousand euros per person.
