Cascades Presents The Femmes de Papier Exhibition

KINGSEY FALLS, QC (News release) -- Cascades, a leader in recovery and green packaging and hygiene solutions, is pleased to welcome the Femmes de papier exhibition to Kingsey Falls.

Produced by the Boréalis centre, which presents the history of the paper industry, this touching interactive exhibition offers a female point of view in a traditionally male-dominated industry. Through various stations, visitors are invited to discover the day-to-day lives of women from different pulp and paper environments: housewives, cooks in logging camps, plant secretaries, and women who defied convention by working in production, and even management. Their stories serve to break down any preconceived notions that visitors might have. From the paper maker's daughter to the female plant manager, these women of paper remind us of how much progress has been made over the last fifty years.

"This exhibition has particular significance for us," said Mario Plourde , President and CEO of Cascades. "Throughout the company's history, women have played, and continue to play, an important part in Cascades' success. I am very happy to be able to pay tribute to them through this fascinating exhibition."

"I was honoured to be involved in this magnificent exhibition by sharing my story and my experience," said Suzanne Blanchet , President and COO of the Cascades Tissue Group from 1997 to 2014. "And I feel great pride seeing new female talent blossoming daily in an industry that was long seen as a male preserve."

The exhibition has been made possible by Cascades, the town of Kingsey Falls , Canadian Heritage (through its Museums Assistance Program), the Ministère de la Culture et des Communications (through its project assistance program), the city of Trois-Rivières and Culture Trois-Rivières.

Femmes de papier is presented from May 3 to June 16, 2019 at the Pavillon des loisirs located at the 2, rue Pinard in Kingsey Falls , on Thursdays and Fridays from noon to 6 p.m. and on Saturdays and Sundays from noon to 5 p.m. Group visits outside these hours can also be arranged. Admission is free.
