ASHDOWN, Arkansas (From KTBS-TV) -- A Domtar employee was killed in a workplace accident Friday in Ashdown, Arkansas.

Domtar officials say Velma Marie Perkins was killed in a rail car incident at the mill.

She was an equipment helper on the switch engine in the shipping department.

Perkins had worked for Domtar since 1991.

"We are working closely with emergency personnel and local authorities to actively investigate and manage the incident," said Tammy Waters, Domtar Manager, Communications & Government Relations.

The accident is being investigated by the OSHA and the Little River County Sheriff's Office.

Counselors were on site to provide assistance to employees throughout the afternoon and evening.
