Valmet maintains its position as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index Excellence Europe

Valmet has been reconfirmed as a constituent of the Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe since October 18, 2019 for the fourth consecutive year. The composition of the indices is reviewed twice a year.

The Ethibel Sustainability Index (ESI) Excellence Europe contains the 200 best performing European stock listed companies in the field of corporate social responsibility. Ethibel's main areas of assessment are human capital, environmental management, market ethics, governance, social impact and human rights. The assessment is based on external information sources such as sustainability reporting and company web sites.

Valmet's mission is to convert renewable resources into sustainable results. Valmet's sustainability agenda focuses on five core areas: sustainable supply chain; health, safety and environment; people and performance; sustainable solutions, and corporate citizenship.

"Our Sustainability360º agenda drives continuous improvement in our sustainable business practices. The reconfirmation as a constituent in the Ethibel Sustainability Index is an acknowledgement for our strong progress and transparent reporting," says Laura Puustjärvi, Head of Sustainability, Valmet.

Inclusion in the Ethibel Sustainability Index Excellence Europe continues Valmet's strong track record of sustainability acknowledgements. In September 2019, Valmet was included in the Dow Jones Sustainability World and Europe indices. In February 2019, Valmet was awarded the Bronze Class Sustainability Award in SAM's annual Sustainability Yearbook 2019, and in January 2019, Valmet achieved the best rating in CDP's climate program ranking.

"Investors' interest towards sustainability is constantly increasing. It is great that our comprehensive work continues to receive recognitions in sustainability indices, which provides further assurance of the company as a sustainable investment," says Pekka Rouhiainen, Director of Investor Relations, Valmet.
