Sun Paper starts up recovery and woodyard systems at Nanning pulp mill in China

Sun Paper has commenced operations of new process islands at its kraft pulp mill in Nanning, Guangxi, which are designed to enhance chemical recovery and woodyard logistics, according to the technology supplier Andritz.

The recently commissioned systems include a lamella evaporation plant, an ARC chloride removal system, and a recovery boiler engineered for maximized electricity production. The integrated white liquor plant consists of a recausticizing system and a lime kiln with a gasification plant. The wood processing scope features a 360° Stacker Reclaimer for chip handling, while the new wet-lap system comprises a Twin Wire Press, a cutter-layboy, and a baling line.

The equipment supports the mill's chemical recovery operations and provides pressed pulp for further processing. The systems were supplied on an engineering, procurement, and supervision (EPS) basis.

The startup of these process islands follows the recent commissioning of a high kappa fiberline and a lime kiln plant at the same mill at the end of 2023.

Andritz Pulp & Paper provides sustainable technology, automation, and service solutions for the production of all types of pulp, paper, board and tissue.
