ANDRITZ to supply Yankee Eco Steam System to Essity, England

ANDRITZ has received an order from global hygiene and health company Essity to deliver a PrimeDry YES (Yankee Eco Steam System) for a tissue machine at its mill in Stubbins, England.

Start-up is scheduled for the fourth quarter of 2024.

The PrimeDry YES generates high-pressure steam, providing up to 25% of the steam required for the Yankee by utilizing exhaust air from the Yankee hood. This significantly reduces the boiler's gas consumption, overall energy costs, and CO2 emissions. The standalone system is integrated into the machine's DCS and can operate completely independently of the machine's production, allowing for easy operational control. Being classified as a heat exchanger rather than a boiler, the PrimeDry YES does not require special inspections, maintenance by certified personnel, or system certifications at the customer's expense.

Essity and ANDRITZ have successfully executed numerous joint projects over the past fifteen years. This latest order further solidifies ANDRITZ's proven expertise in sustainable drying technology. It marks the 39th custom-designed PrimeDry YES supplied globally to major tissue industry players.

Phillip Kenyon,Organization Improvement Manager at Stubbins mill, says, "The state-of-the-art PrimeDry YES perfectly meets our requirements for energy saving, thermal recovery and overall machine efficiency optimization. We look forward to continuing our collaboration with our trusted partner ANDRITZ on new efficiency projects."

Essity is a Swedish based leading global hygiene and health company with five manufacturing sites throughout the UK. Trends such as longer life expectancy, higher living standards and greater awareness of hygiene and health support the group's growth, which is based on successful innovations, digital transformation, leading sustainability work and efficiency improvements.
