Suzano reportedly ready to discuss merger with Fibria | Suzano, Fibria, Brazil, merger,

BRAZIL (From RTTNews) -- The Brazilian paper maker Suzano could study a possible merger with Fibria, the country's largest pulp producer, Suzano chief executive officer Walter Schalka said during a recent investors conference.

"In my opinion, a Suzano-Fibria merger would create a lot of value. Suzano's controlling shareholders have a pro-negotiation position in this regard, and as soon as there is a possibility on the corporate side, on the valuation side, to discuss, Suzano is ready to talk about this possible operation," said the executive.

Fibria did not deny that it is analyzing the possible transaction and indicated that the matter should be dealt by its shareholders, Votorantim bank and BNDESPar, Brazil's National Economic and Social Development Bank (BNDES) investment branch.
