OREGON (News release) -- Nordic Veneer Inc. has announced it will permanently cease production at its facility in Roseburg, Oregon, ending more than 72 years of continuous operation as a family-owned cornerstone of Douglas County's timber industry.
The company, founded in 1954 by Dick Adams and Norm Jacobsen, purchased the Perkins veneer plant in Dixonville in 1960 and has operated under the stewardship of the Adams family across four generations, producing high-quality veneer for the regional wood products economy.
Art Adams, owner of Nordic Veneer, stated that the industry has faced sustained wood supply and market challenges, structural realignment, and foreign competition, with sustaining operations no longer viable under current market conditions despite recent investments in efficiency.
The company will work with its employees to provide transition support and job placement resources.
