Nobody hurt in fire at Domtar facility in Rothschild, Wisconsin

ROTHSCHILD, Wis. (From news reports) - Riverside Fire District says nobody was injured in a structure fire at the Domtar Biomass facility in Rothschild on June 19. Crews responded to the plant at 8:40 p.m. on Thursday for a fire with smoke and flames showing at the plant. As crews worked to suppress and extinguish the fire, numerous hot spots were found. The fire was under control and the last units cleared the scene just after 3 a.m. on June 20. The following agencies provided significant assistance in the control and mitigation of this incident: South Area Fire and Emergency Response District (SAFER), Kronenwetter Fire, City of Wausau Fire, Town of Wausau Fire, Ringle Fire, Maine Fire, Marathon City Fire, Stevens Point Fire, Mosinee Ambulance, the Salvation Army for personnel support, and Mountain Bay Metro PD. Plant staff also helped to evacuate the facility. The cause of the fire is under investigation. Damage estimates are pending further assessment.
