Mercer Peace River to conduct 10-day maintenance shutdown at pulp mill in September | Mercer International, shutdown, maintenance,

Mercer Peace River will undertake a planned 10-day maintenance shutdown at its pulp mill from September 7 to 17, 2026, according to Mercer International Inc.

The shutdown will focus on digester internal inspection and repairs, pulp machine optimization work, and recovery boiler inspection. The work will bring 475 to 500 contractors and specialized trades to the Peace River area for the duration of the outage.

The shutdown is expected to reduce production by approximately 15,000 air-dried metric tonnes, a planned impact factored into the mill's annual production outlook.

Normal production is expected to resume immediately following completion of the maintenance work in September.

Mercer Peace River Pulp Ltd. operates a kraft pulp mill located in the boreal forest region of Peace River, Alberta, Canada. Mercer Peace River's pulp mill operations began in 1990 and produce both softwood (NBSK) and hardwood (NBHK) pulp, serving customers in global tissue, packaging, and other cellulose-based markets.
