Holmen restarts pulp production and PM 11 at Hallsta mill in Sweden

SWEDEN -- Holmen announced this week that PM 11 at the Hallsta Paper Mill is producing paper again, 99 days after the fire hit the pulp production in November.

The pulp production is running since Friday evening and the paper machine started producing paper on Sunday night.

Because of this, Holmen Paper can now start scheduling customer production for Holmen XLNT Elite and XLNT Classic as well as Holmen VIEW on PM 11. Deliveries to customers will start again in April, after final paper qualifications and test prints.
"The clean-up and repair has been going well - we are producing paper again, and earlier than expected! Thanks to our dedicated team that have been working 24/7 ever since the fire started", says Daniel Peltonen, mill manager at Hallsta.

Holmen says that in the current situation, the pulp production is running at approximately 75%. To be back at full production capacity remains the restart of the fourth and final refiner line scheduled for the end of March.

Daniel Peltonen has a positive take on the future: "The rebuild of our TMP plant has not been an easy task. But following hard work, Hallsta is now an even better paper mill. Moreover is our product Holmen VIEW, with its new surfaces and basis weights, an even better product than before".
