DELAWARE, Ohio -- Greif, Inc. has announced that it was awarded an A- for environmental leadership, management and best practices by the independent non-profit organization CDP (previously Carbon Disclosure Project) as part of CDP's renowned annual assessment of more than 20,000 companies. With an overall score of A-, Greif outperforms the container and packaging industry with its leadership, governance and strategy, and environmental best practices. The container and packaging industry average CDP score is a C, on a scale from A to F.

CDP awards the highest ranking of A/A- to companies that, in comparison to industry peers, demonstrate a high degree of transparency and governance in environmental management and a thorough understanding of risks and opportunities related to climate change. Leading companies' environmental best practices, according to CDP, include defining targets, achieving emissions cuts via reduction measures and/or verification of reported data.

Greif's CDP score has continued to increase since Greif's first CDP assessment in 2014.
