BUENA PARK, Calif. (From The Orange County Register) - A paper manufacturing building in Buena Park caught fire Friday, filling the air with smoke that could be seen for miles around.

The Orange County Fire Authority was called around 4:45 p.m. for a fire at Georgia-Pacific Corrugated Products, a paper and cardboard manufacturer, said Capt. Larry Kurtz.

Smoke could be seen from I-5 and Fullerton. The blaze was extinguished around 5:30 p.m., Kurtz said.

Firefighters were looking for hotspots that could re-ignite.

"Because it's a paper factory, we have to make sure it's (fully) extinguished or else we could be back here later," he said.

Officials did not know if any employees were inside when the fire broke out.

It was not immediately known if anyone was hurt or the cause of the blaze. Around 70 firefighters, including from the Anaheim and Fullerton fire departments, responded.

The cause and a damage estimate were not available.
