On March 16, 2020, Paperitalo Publications did a survey regarding the coronavirus and how it's affecting the pulp and paper industry. Below are the responses that we received. Please note, if the responses do not total 100%, it indicates that some individuals did not answer certain questions.

With regards to demographics in the survey responses, 7.4% were from Sweden, 3.7% were from Belgium, 3.7% were from Austria, 3.7% were from Canada, 3.7% were from the Netherlands and 59% were from the United States.

69% of the respondents are suppliers to the pulp and paper industry, 15.4% are producers, 11% are consultants and 3.8% work in other areas of the industry.

74% of the respondents reported that they are currently working in their place of business.

34.6% reported that they coronavirus has negatively affected sales, while 53.8% reported that the coronavirus has not affected sales negatively.

The vast majority of respondents reported that travel has been stopped.

81.5% of the respondents reported that their employer is allowing them the opportunity to work from home, while 11.1% reported that their employer is not allowing them the opportunity to work from home.

We asked a question "What are you most concerned about with regards to the coronavirus". 40.7% were most concerned about health and safety. 44.4% were most concerned about the economy.

57.7% of the respondents answered that production has not slowed down since the outbreak and 19.2% reported that production has slowed down.

The majority of the respondents reported that they had plans to attend a conference that was cancelled and that it impacted networking opportunities for their company.

The majority of the respondents answered the question, "Has your employer placed any restrictions on daily activities since the coronavirus outbreak," by stated that their employer has limited meeting size and company travel.

For paper producers, 53.8% of respondents stated that spring outages have not been canceled or postponed, while 7.7% stated that spring outages have been cancelled.

For paper producers, 9.1% responded that they are having shipping issues and 54.5% reported no shipping issues.

For suppliers, 38.9% reported having issues receiving parts or components and 44.4% reported no issues.
