What the company said

"We fully recognize the uncertainty this creates for our employees and their families, and we are committed to supporting them through this transition."
About the Mosinee mill
The company cited rising costs and limited automation as ongoing challenges at the site. Ahlstrom said the changes are intended to refocus the mill on more modern competitive production, supported by future reinvestment in new technologies and automation for the remaining paper machines.
The Mosinee mill produces specialty base papers for niche markets including building and construction materials, food packaging, and tape. Ahlstrom acquired the mill in 2018.
