Fire crews were called to Universal Forest Products in Prairie du Chien, Wisconsin just before 11 a.m. on Thursday morning for reports of a fire and an explosion.
The company said that in 2015, Walsum has been posting up to US $1.26 million in losses per month. There are 291 employees at the mill, which has an annual production capacity of 205,000 tons of light-weight coated paper.
